- Coordinates the procurement, inventory management, distribution, maintenance, and lifecycle tracking of department equipment, supplies, uniforms, gear, and operational assets.
- Coordinates the purchasing and issuance of uniforms, tactical equipment, vehicle supplies, radio equipment, safety equipment, community event materials, and other departmental supplies to ensure personnel are properly equipped and operationally prepared.
- Coordinates and maintains department inventory control systems and maintains accurate records related to equipment assignment, condition, replacement schedules, warranties, and asset accountability.
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends alternative products, vendors, equipment, and purchasing strategies to improve operational effectiveness, enhance employee safety, and reduce costs.
- Identifies opportunities for cost savings through competitive pricing, contract negotiations, equipment standardization, inventory oversight, and procurement best practices.
- Researches, coordinates, and assists with grant funding opportunities related to equipment, vehicles, technology, and operational resources.
- Coordinates the specification, purchasing, outfitting, and replacement of police vehicles, including collaboration with vendors and contractors for patrol vehicle installations and equipment integration.
- Monitors and audits vehicle equipment and supply inventories to ensure operational readiness, compliance, and accountability.
- Coordinates vehicle maintenance and repair activities with fleet maintenance personnel, vendors, and service providers to minimize downtime and maintain safe operating conditions.
- Assists with the preparation, administration, and monitoring of contracts, bids, quotes, and purchasing agreements for significant departmental purchases and services in accordance with applicable procurement policies and regulations.
- Collaborates with department leadership and stakeholders to develop policies, procedures, and best practices that address community relations issues.
- Responds to urgent operational needs, equipment failures, emergency incidents, or time-sensitive logistical requests as necessary to support department operations.
- Attends various meetings and conferences, prepares agendas and presentations as required.
- Conveys complex issues, in succinct, easy-to-understand language, both orally and in writing.
- Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
- Communicates with all related personnel in efforts to encourage, motivate, promote leadership, and encourage teamwork in accomplishing set forth objectives.
- Operates modern office machines and equipment including personal computers, printers, copiers, calculators, and fax machines; routinely uses a full range of word processing and spreadsheet computer software applications.
- Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees.
- Responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
- As assigned, attends and participates in staff meetings and related activities; attends workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Associates in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field, and
- 3 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, logistics coordination, fleet coordination, public safety support services, warehouse operation, or related field, or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License and obtain Montana class D Driver’s License within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to acquire Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certifications within 180 days of employment
- As a condition of continued employment, must possess and retain the ability to provide credible testimony in court.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn, the overall functions, duties, and responsibilities of the Bozeman Police Department.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn, the function of services within the public sector, preferably within a municipal government.
- Knowledge of inventory control, purchasing practices, asset management, and records management principles.
- Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn, CJIN/ NCIC policies and procedures manual.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn, related Police Department policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn about police equipment, uniforms, tactical gear, vehicle outfitting, and operational support functions preferred.
- Knowledge of public sector procurement processes and contract administration practices preferred.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn specialized asset management software and database entry.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects, priorities, vendors, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and prepare reports, documentation, and budget information.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams including citizens and volunteers, community organizations, and projects.
- Ability to maintain and exhibit integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
