USA Jobs
USAJOBS is the official, central place to find and apply for federal government jobs across U.S. agencies around the world.
What You Can Do
The site hosts nearly all federal government job openings and includes specific details about job duties, minimum qualifications, salary ranges, and how applicants will be evaluated. You can search without an account, but creating a free profile is required to save searches and apply for positions online.
Key Features
- Save and automate job searches — set your filters once and receive email alerts when new matching positions open.
- Upload up to five resumes and ten supporting documents, such as cover letters, transcripts, and writing samples. One resume can be made searchable so agencies can find and contact you.
- Filter results by location, salary, work schedule, agency, and pay grade. Job listings display appointment type (permanent, temporary, term, etc.), which affects benefits and future federal employment options.
Special Hiring Paths
- Students: The Pathways Internship Program is open to current high school, college, and graduate students and offers paid work experience with the possibility of a full-time position after graduation.
- Recent Graduates: The Recent Graduates Program is a one-year developmental program for those who completed a degree or certificate within the past two years, designed to lead to permanent civil service careers.
- Veterans: Veterans who served on active duty and were separated under honorable conditions may be eligible for Veterans’ Preference, which gives them an advantage over non-veteran applicants in the hiring process.
