Your role.
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Review tax compliance and provide consulting services for state and local taxes (SALT), including income, franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, and, to a much lesser extent, payroll , and personal property taxes and unclaimed property. Consulting projects include, but are not limited to, nexus evaluations, due diligence, legal entity structuring, refund reviews, sales taxability determinations and audit defense.
- Serve as a team member on a number of client service engagements including potential involvement with review and completion of federal income tax returns.
- Collaborate with engagement team members and client staff to effectively meet and exceed client expectations.
- Develop client relationships, assist in preparing presentations and participate in selling opportunities with the guidance from experienced team members.
- Training and developing less experienced staff.
- Assist with engagement management and supervising tax staff and interns on assigned engagements.
The qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in taxation in public accounting OR in a government tax auditing role working in SALT
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation; or a Juris Doctorate
- CPA OR Bar license required
- This position may require some local and national travel (post-pandemic)
